Detectives with the Newark Police Department Special Enforcement Bureau opened an investigation into the alleged illegal establishments after receiving multiple tips from residents.

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose issued a statement about the recent arrests and said that Newark NJ detectives found six gambling machines, more than 200 beers, and 22 liquor bottles during the raid of the Portugal USA Soccer Club on Lafayette Street in Newark, New Jersey.

Two people accused of operating the Lafayette Street bar were arrested and charged with criminal offenses, including maintaining an illegal alcohol establishment and possession of a gambling device.

Newark NJ detectives carried out the second raid at the Zig-Zag Café on Monroe Street in Newark. According to authorities, law enforcement seized five gambling machines, 163 beers, and 26 bottles of liquor at the Monroe Street shop.

Police placed one person under arrest after the raid of the Zig-Zag Café. She has been charged with maintaining an illegal alcohol establishment.

Bloomfield NJ Robbery SuspectLaw enforcement recently charged a third person in connection with the violent robbery of a man in the parking lot of a Bloomfield NJ Wendy’s.

The suspect, a 23-year-old resident of East Orange NJ, allegedly participated in the robbery of a man just outside the Wendy’s fast food restaurant located on Bloomfield Avenue in Bloomfield, New Jersey.

The robbers allegedly approached the 41-year-old victim and brutally attacked him.

The culprits allegedly committed the aggravated assault while trying to steal the victim’s Nike sneakers.

Witnesses later spoke with Bloomfield detectives and said that the suspects violently punched and kicked the victim.

Bloomfield cops later captured two of the alleged attackers: a 21-year-old Newark NJ man and a 23-year-old Newark NJ man. The suspects were subsequently charged with robbery and conspiracy.

Now the third suspect has also been charged with robbery and conspiracy after he turned himself in to Bloomfield NJ police.

Belleville DWI SuspectsPolice officers arrested a Belleville New Jersey man accused of driving drunk while operating a motor vehicle at the Lincoln Tunnel toll plaza in Weehawken, NJ.

The suspect is a 19-year-old resident of Belleville, NJ. According to law enforcement, the suspect was driving a vehicle Eastbound near the Lincoln Tunnel when Port Authority police officers saw that the car windows were illegally tinted. The officers then signaled for the suspect to pull over.

While the suspect attempted to move off the roadway, he reportedly hit, and knocked over, a traffic cone.

When the Port Authority NJ cops questioned the motorist, he reportedly told them that he had smoked marijuana prior to getting behind the wheel. Additionally, police officers reportedly observed the suspect stumble when exiting his vehicle.

Port Authority officers administered a field sobriety test, which the suspect reportedly failed. The suspect was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).

Moreover, the suspect was also charged with simple possession of marijuana because police officers allegedly discovered a small quantity of pot inside his car.

Just 15 minutes after arresting the Belleville man on suspicion of drunk driving, Port Authority cops arrested a second person for a DWI offense near the Lincoln Tunnel. The second DWI suspect is a 23-year-old resident of Brooklyn, New York.

Newark NJ Armed Robbery ChargesNewark NJ law enforcement is attempting to identify and apprehend a man and a woman who allegedly robbed a grocery store.

The robbery happened just before 8:00 p.m. at the Exito Fresh Market on Montclair Avenue in Newark, NJ. The two suspects, a male and a female, reportedly entered the grocery store and approached a store employee.

The male suspect reportedly wore a blue bandana over his face and held a rifle or shotgun when he demanded that the store clerk open the register. The male suspect then reportedly grabbed money from the register before both suspects fled the scene on foot.

Newark police detectives are currently investigating the armed robbery. If and when law enforcement identifies and captures the robbers, the culprits would likely be charged with first degree armed robbery. A conviction on the theft offense charges could lead to sentences of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison.

Newark NJ Cocaine Distribution ChargesA Newark New Jersey woman who was previously employed at the post office has been accused of smuggling cocaine into the U.S.

The suspect is a 22-year-old woman from Newark, NJ. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect worked out a deal to have large amounts of cocaine shipped from Puerto Rico to NJ through USPS.

The suspect reportedly arranged for the narcotics to be sent to homes located in Short Hills NJ while the homeowners were gone on vacation.

The US Postal Inspection Service and the Millburn Police Department conducted a joint investigation into the suspect and eventually arrested her.

The suspect has been charged with multiple crimes, including possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy.

Since the suspect faces the drug crime charges at the federal level, a conviction could result in her being sentenced to time in a federal prison.

Newark Burglary ChargesPolice are searching for a Newark New Jersey man who allegedly committed a car burglary.

The suspect is a 19-year-old resident of Newark, NJ. According to law enforcement officials, he was observed while in the process of breaking into a 2007 Chevy Trail Blazer parked on a road in Newark, New Jersey.

Two Newark cops were on patrol near the intersection of Osborne Terrace and Tillinghast Street around 10:00 p.m. when they reportedly saw the suspect trying to illegally enter an SUV.

The cops moved toward the suspect, which prompted him to run from the vehicle and flee the area. The officers could not catch the suspect.

Newark police detectives are currently investigating the car break-in and attempting to find the suspect.

If and when authorities arrest the suspect, he would likely face criminal charges for burglary and attempted theft.

The suspect, a 19-year-old man from East Orange, was allegedly involved in an armed robbery and a shooting outside Alondra’s Bar on Lafayette Street in Newark, NJ.

The victim, a 39-year-old Newark NJ man, told police officers that the suspect used a handgun to hold him up after he exited the bar.

The victim was transported to nearby University Hospital, where doctors provided medical treatment for minor injuries.

Meanwhile, detectives with the Newark Police Department conducted an investigation into the theft incident and eventually decided to place the suspect under arrest.

The suspect now faces numerous criminal charges for crime that include armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ.

Newark NJ Handgun Possession ChargesNewark New Jersey police arrested a local resident accused of illegally possessing a handgun without a permit.

The suspect is a 38-year-old man from Newark, NJ. He was placed under arrest a short time after 3:00 a.m. when Newark police officers responded to a report of gunshots fired on North 6th Street. Responding officers allegedly found the suspect carrying a weapon.

Fortunately, there were no injuries caused by the alleged shooting incident.

Although Newark NJ detectives could not tie the suspect to the shooting, they still arrested him for unlawful possession of a weapon.

Newark NJ Criminal Defense AttorneysNewark New Jersey police are looking into a recent shooting that left one person dead and another person seriously injured.

The fatal shooting occurred at 10:45 p.m. at an apartment complex on Ridgewood Avenue in Newark, NJ. The Newark Police Department received a call about gunshots being fired and dispatched cops to the scene. When police officers got to the apartment building, they saw the two victims in a third-floor hallway.

The female victim is 41 years old and lives in Newark. She sustained a gunshot wound that required medical treatment at the scene and hospitalization at a local medical facility.

The male victim also lived in Newark NJ and was 26 years old when he died. Paramedics were unable to revive him at the scene.

Detectives with both the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are currently investigating the homicide.

If investigators can eventually determine the person responsible for the shooting, it is likely that prosecutors would file very serious criminal for first degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
