Newark NJ Armed Robbery ChargesNewark NJ law enforcement is attempting to identify and apprehend a man and a woman who allegedly robbed a grocery store.

The robbery happened just before 8:00 p.m. at the Exito Fresh Market on Montclair Avenue in Newark, NJ. The two suspects, a male and a female, reportedly entered the grocery store and approached a store employee.

The male suspect reportedly wore a blue bandana over his face and held a rifle or shotgun when he demanded that the store clerk open the register. The male suspect then reportedly grabbed money from the register before both suspects fled the scene on foot.

Newark police detectives are currently investigating the armed robbery. If and when law enforcement identifies and captures the robbers, the culprits would likely be charged with first degree armed robbery. A conviction on the theft offense charges could lead to sentences of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison.
