Newark Criminal Defense LawyersNewark NJ law enforcement recently arrested a local man who allegedly possessed a handgun without a valid permit at a city apartment.

The suspect is a 55-year-old resident of Newark, New Jersey. According to authorities, the suspect was caught in possession of a handgun at his apartment.

The Newark Police Department got a 911 call about a man brandishing a gun at an apartment building on Johnson Avenue in Newark, NJ.

Newark NJ police officers went to the apartment building and reportedly found the suspect with the weapon. He was subsequently arrested without incident.

The suspect has now been charged with weapons offenses for allegedly carrying a firearm without a valid license or permit. If he is ultimately convicted on the weapons offense charges, he would likely face a mandatory term of incarceration under the New Jersey Graves Act.

After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey.
