Police officers arrested a Belleville New Jersey man accused of driving drunk while operating a motor vehicle at the Lincoln Tunnel toll plaza in Weehawken, NJ.
The suspect is a 19-year-old resident of Belleville, NJ. According to law enforcement, the suspect was driving a vehicle Eastbound near the Lincoln Tunnel when Port Authority police officers saw that the car windows were illegally tinted. The officers then signaled for the suspect to pull over.
While the suspect attempted to move off the roadway, he reportedly hit, and knocked over, a traffic cone.
When the Port Authority NJ cops questioned the motorist, he reportedly told them that he had smoked marijuana prior to getting behind the wheel. Additionally, police officers reportedly observed the suspect stumble when exiting his vehicle.
Port Authority officers administered a field sobriety test, which the suspect reportedly failed. The suspect was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).
Moreover, the suspect was also charged with simple possession of marijuana because police officers allegedly discovered a small quantity of pot inside his car.
Just 15 minutes after arresting the Belleville man on suspicion of drunk driving, Port Authority cops arrested a second person for a DWI offense near the Lincoln Tunnel. The second DWI suspect is a 23-year-old resident of Brooklyn, New York.
