The suspects, a 53-year-old Newark man and a 44-year-old Elizabeth NJ man, were initially placed under arrest by Bloomfield NJ police after investigators connected them to the armed robbery of a gas station worker at the Enrite gas station on Bloomfield Avenue in Bloomfield, New Jersey. According to law enforcement, the suspects held up the gas station attendant at gunpoint and stole approximately $400 in cash.

As the suspects reportedly fled the scene in their motor vehicle, the victim got a look at their license plate number. Bloomfield police then used the license number to locate the suspects.

Shortly after being arrested and charged with armed robbery, the suspects were remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark on separate $100,000 bail amounts.

While the suspects were in police custody, Montclair New Jersey authorities investigated them for a theft incident at a gas station in Montclair, NJ. The violent theft occurred on June 11, 2016. At some point, the suspects allegedly began to punch, kick, and hit the victim. When the victim fell to the ground, the suspects allegedly removed $1,000 in cash from his pocket and then ran away.

The good news is that the gas station attendant was not seriously injured as a result of the violent assault.

The Montclair Police Department and the Bloomfield Police Department conducted a joint investigation into the theft incident and eventually identified the suspects as the likely culprits.

Montclair police officers recently found the suspects and placed them under arrest. The suspects include a 53-year-old Newark man and a 41-year-old Elizabeth NJ man. Both suspects face multiple criminal charges, including armed robbery and aggravated assault.

The two suspects asked the gas station worker if they could borrow cigarettes. When the gas station attendant told them that he did not have any cigarettes, one of the suspects allegedly reached out and grabbed the victim by the throat. The suspect reportedly shoved the victim further inside the booth.

The other suspect then reportedly took out a handgun and pressed it against the victim’s neck. Both suspects allegedly demanded that the victim hand over cash.

The frightening robbery attempt ended when the suspects allegedly took $1,000 from the victim’s uniform pockets and then fled the scene on foot.

The victim subsequently dialed 911 and notified the Montclair Police Department to alert authorities to the theft.

Montclair NJ law enforcement is investigating the armed robbery and trying to identify the suspects.

The first suspect has been described as a large Hispanic man who stands 5-feet-9-inches tall. He was reportedly wearing a black baseball cap and dark sweatpants during the robbery. The second suspect has been described as a tall black man. While committing the theft, he reportedly wore a black baseball cap, a dark t-shirt, and black sweatpants. Police also said that the second suspect walked with a noticeable limp.

If Montclair police can eventually determine the identities of the suspects, it is likely that the men would face serious criminal charges for armed robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
