Newark police officers recently arrested 41 people as part of several drug raids conducted across the city over a single weekend.
The Newark Police Department launched the drug crime investigation after getting multiple tips about illegal drug activity in areas of Newark. The drug raids were carried out at three spots in Newark NJ: Pennington Street and Broad Street, Springfield Avenue and Fairmount Avenue, and the Bright Court and Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Detectives reportedly seized large amounts of drugs, including 194 heroin decks, 216 cocaine vials, and 118 bags of marijuana.
Newark NJ cops also reportedly seized three handguns and nearly $2,400 in cash.
The drug distribution investigation and raids resulted in the arrests of 41 individuals, many of whom are from Newark and East Orange, NJ. The suspects face multiple drug crime charges, including possession of heroin, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Additionally, three suspects were charged with weapons offenses that include unlawful possession of a weapon, illegal possession of a handgun, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
