A Newark New Jersey man is headed to prison after admitting to serious drug charges and weapons offenses in Parsippany, NJ.
The 25-year-old Newark suspect appeared in Morris County Superior Court in Morristown and entered his guilty plea. Now the suspect is on his way to state prison.
According to authorities, the suspect was pulled over by Parsippany police in March 2014. During the traffic stop, police reportedly found the suspect in possession of a handgun and non-prescription oxycodone painkillers.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and charged with several criminal offenses, including illegal possession of a handgun, a certain persons offense, and prescription drug possession. The certain person offense was brought against the suspect because he was reportedly a convicted felon barred from legally possessing a handgun in New Jersey.
The suspect recently made another appearance in Morris County Superior Court so that he could be formally sentenced. The superior court judge imposed two sentences of 7 years in NJ State Prison for each charge. However, the sentences are going to run concurrently.
