Law enforcement recently conducted a number of undercover operations in Essex County NJ and arrested five individuals on drug charges.
The raid took place at an apartment on Woodside Avenue in Newark NJ. Essex County Sheriff’s officers entered the residence after they heard people inside the apartment yelling “5-0, 5-0.”
Once officers were inside the apartment, they allegedly saw a suspect trying to toss a plastic bag out of a window.
Another suspect inside the apartment allegedly attempted to punch and kick the officers.
Both suspects were ultimately placed under arrest by police. The suspect accused of attacking police has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer.
Police officers reportedly discovered 133 prescription pills and 26 vials of crack cocaine inside the apartment.
Essex County Sheriff’s officers were joined by federal postal investigators when they conducted a second raid at a home on Greenbrook Drive in Millburn, New Jersey.
Officers executed a search warrant and arrested a 21-year-old suspect who allegedly accepted a package containing more than two pounds of marijuana. The suspect has been charged with possession of marijuana.
The third raid took place at an apartment located on Summer Avenue in Newark.
According to authorities, a 27-year-old suspect jumped out of a bedroom window at the residence and tried to flee the scene. He was quickly apprehended and placed under arrest. The suspect was then charged with resisting arrest.
Another suspect was reportedly captured “before he could jump from a window” in the residence.
Police searched the apartment and reportedly discovered 565 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of heroin, 7 Xanax tablets, and drug paraphernalia.
During all three raids, police reportedly seized illegal drugs valued at $30,000.
According to officials, three of the five people arrested are gang members. All of the suspects who were placed under arrest have been charged with drug crimes.
