Newark NJ police recently conducted a drug bust that resulted in the seizure of a huge amount of heroin and the arrests of three men for heroin distribution.
The Newark Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit got a call from a tipster about a massive drug sale set to occur at a house located in the 200 block of Broadway. The person calling in the tip also gave police detailed descriptions of the suspects.
Newark police acted on the tip and established surveillance outside the residence. Police officers waited several hours for the suspects to show up. When the suspects finally arrived, they got out of a vehicle and walked into the home.
A short time later, the suspects exited the residence. They were reportedly carrying two garbage bags as they got back inside their vehicle and drove off.
Police officers followed closely behind in unmarked cars. Police soon stopped the suspects’ vehicle a few blocks from the residence.
Police obtained a search warrant and conducted a search of the suspects’ car. The officers allegedly discovered a large quantity of drugs inside the vehicle.
Police seized roughly 87,000 decks of heroin, which had a total estimated street value of more than $600,000.
The three suspects, who live in Elizabeth NJ, were arrested and charged with a number of drug crimes, including heroin distribution and heroin possession.
Law enforcement has asked for the public’s help with the investigation, which remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information to share about the suspects is asked to call the Newark Police Department’s Crime Stoppers tip line at 877-NWK-TIPS or 877-NWK-GUNS.
