Newark Cocaine Distribution AttorneysNewark NJ police recently arrested a local man who was allegedly distributing cocaine out of his apartment.

Undercover detectives with the Newark Police Department reportedly purchased cocaine from the suspect at an apartment on the 200 block of Mount Prospect Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. The detectives were part of a joint investigation that included state, local, and federal law enforcement agencies, including the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force, the FBI, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Not long after allegedly making the drug buy, police got a search warrant for the suspect’s residence.

Before police entered the apartment, they observed the suspect as he exited the building and drove away in a motor vehicle. Police officers followed the suspect for a few blocks and then pulled him over.

During the vehicle stop, police allegedly saw the suspect try to hide a small bag of narcotics. Police seized the bag and placed the suspect under arrest.

While the suspect was being held at Newark police headquarters, police conducted a search of his apartment. During the search, police allegedly found 281 grams of cocaine in a laundry area. Narcotics task force members also reportedly $1,750 in cash.

The suspect will probably be charged with multiple drug crimes, including distribution of cocaine and possession of cocaine.

Newark New Jersey Heroin LawyersLaw enforcement in Vermont recently arrested a Newark NJ man accused of carrying thousands of bags of heroin for later distribution.

According to federal officials, the 23-year-old suspect was in possession of roughly 2,250 bags of heroin at an Amtrak station located in Essex Junction, VT.

Authorities, including federal agents, local police, and the Vermont State Police Drug Task Force, got word several months ago that the suspect was selling heroin. The subsequent investigation led to the suspect’s arrest at the Vermont train station.

The suspect reportedly traveled via train from New York City to Vermont. Once the suspect got to the Amtrak station in Vermont, members of the drug task force detained him. Police searched the suspect and allegedly found more than 2,000 bags of heroin.

The suspect was immediately arrested. He has been charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin.

If the suspect is eventually convicted of heroin distribution, he could be sentenced to as many as 20 years in federal prison. Although the suspect faces federal drug charges in the case, he would have been subject to similarly harsh punishments if he was charged with heroin distribution in NJ. N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5 classifies distribution of more than five ounces of heroin as a first degree crime, which is punishable by 10-20 years in New Jersey State Prison.

After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was held in police custody. A representative with the U.S. Attorney’s Office said that a federal judge would later decide whether the suspect should be detained until trial or temporarily released to the supervision of the U.S. Probation Office.

Newark NJ Heroin Possession ChargesEssex County police arrested a man accused of possessing a large amount of heroin on a Newark New Jersey street.

According to authorities, the 27-year-old suspect was observed by detectives with the Essex County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Bureau. The detectives were in the process of conducting surveillance in the city’s South Ward when they reportedly spotted the suspect walking down Foster Street.

Police said that the suspect was carrying a black plastic bag in one hand; he reportedly had several envelopes of heroin in his other hand. Police also reportedly watched the suspect as he stuffed the heroin envelopes into the bag.

When the detectives walked toward the suspect, he allegedly ran away and tried to flee the scene on foot. However, the suspect did not get very far; after running onto Dayton Street, he was cornered by police in an alleyway.

The suspect was placed under arrest by the detectives. Police subsequently seized the bag and allegedly found 220 glassine envelopes of heroin inside the bag. According to law enforcement, the envelopes had been stamped with a red label reading “730 VIRUS.”

The suspect was charged with multiple drug crimes, including distribution of heroin and possession of heroin. The suspect was also charged with eluding police for allegedly trying to flee police.

After being arrested and charged, the suspect was transported to the Essex County Jail in Newark, NJ. He is being held at the correctional facility on a $100,000 bail amount.

Newark New Jersey Manslaughter ConvictionA Newark New Jersey man was sentenced to 25 years in state prison for strangling a woman to death in 2012.

According to Essex County prosecutors, the 46-year-old suspect strangled the 58-year-old victim and then threw her body into the Passaic River in Newark, NJ.

Both the suspect and the victim were homeless and reportedly living on the streets, near the Passaic River in Newark NJ, when the homicide occurred.

The victim’s sister tried to call the victim on Thanksgiving morning in 2012; however, the victim’s cell phone was unable to receive messages. Not long after that, the victim’s sister got a phone call from the suspect, who reportedly said that the victim was dead.

Newark authorities found the victim’s body in the Passaic River near the 900 block of Route 21.

The primary cause of the victim’s death was listed as strangulation. However, medical examiners also indicated that the victim sustained stab wounds and blunt force trauma to the head.

Police eventually gathered enough evidence to link the suspect to the murder. He was placed under arrest in connection with the homicide.

In June 2015, the suspect reached a plea dead with Essex County prosecutors and pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter.

The suspect was recently sentenced for the homicide. An Essex County superior court judge accepted the recommendation of prosecutors and sentenced the suspect to 25 years in NJ State Prison.

The suspect will have to serve more than 21 years in state prison before is eligible for release on parole.

The suspect, who reportedly has mental health issues, will initially be placed in a psychiatric hospital in order to receive mental health treatment.

Nutley New Jersey Theft AttorneysPolice in Nutley NJ arrested a Belleville man who allegedly tried to steal expensive jewelry from the home of a family member.

According to authorities, the 19-year-old suspect tried to steal jewelry valued at approximately $10,000. The theft incident reportedly occurred at a house located on Vreeland Avenue in Nutley, New Jersey.

Sometime after the incident occurred, the victim contacted local law enforcement. When police officers arrived at the scene, they investigated the theft allegations and eventually determined that enough evidence existed to place the suspect under arrest.

The suspect was charged with theft of movable property, burglary, and criminal mischief. The suspect was also charged with terroristic threats because, while allegedly trying to get out of his handcuffs after being placed under arrest, he reportedly threatened one of the police officers.

If the suspect is eventually convicted on the theft charges, he faces significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:20-3, anyone who steals property valued in excess of $500 can be charged with a third degree felony. A conviction on third degree theft charges could lead to a sentence of 3-5 years in New Jersey State Prison.

Newark New Jersey Robbery LawyersPolice arrested two teens accused of committing an armed robbery in the North Ward of Newark, New Jersey.

According to law enforcement, an off-duty cop saw the holdup being committed in the middle of the afternoon on North 10th Street near Berkeley Avenue in Newark, NJ. The police officer called in the robbery and gave police detailed descriptions of the suspects, an 18-year-old male and a 17-year-old juvenile.

The robbery occurred when the two suspects walked up to the juvenile victim on the street. The suspects allegedly brandished a handgun and threatened to shoot the victim if he did not hand over his cell phone.

After the suspects allegedly took the victim’s cell phone, they fled the scene.

Police were able to track down the suspects in East Orange, New Jersey. When police captured the suspects, they reportedly found them with the victim’s cell phone. The suspects also reportedly had a number of other phones reported stolen in other recent robberies.

The suspects have been charged with armed robbery and multiple weapons offenses.

Newark New Jersey Manslaughter SuspectA Newark NJ man was recently sentenced 12 years in prison for the fatal killing of a Newark resident four years ago.

The homicide happened in July 2011 at a public housing complex on Elizabeth Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. The fatal shooting occurred around 1 a.m.

According to Essex County NJ prosecutors, the 30-year-old suspect shot and killed the 20-year-old victim in connection with a drug deal. The victim resided at the housing complex.

The suspect was eventually identified as the culprit and placed under arrest.

The suspect later pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated manslaughter and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Now the suspect has been ordered to serve 12 years in New Jersey State Prison. The suspect recently made an appearance in Essex County Superior Court in Newark for a sentencing hearing. The superior court judge handed down the lengthy sentence.

The suspect will have to serve more than 10 years before he gains eligibility for release on parole. However, he is going to receive credit for the four years he has already served while the charges were pending.

Moreover, the suspect will be allowed to serve his prison sentence concurrently with another sentence out of NY. According to prosecutors, the suspect was previously convicted for illegal gun possession in New York. He received a 9-year prison sentence for that crime.

Newark New Jersey Crack Cocaine SuspectsEssex County police arrested two men who were allegedly dealing crack cocaine out of an abandoned house in the West Ward of Newark.

According to officials, the two suspects were busted dealing cocaine near the intersection of Brookdale Avenue and Abinger Place in Newark, NJ.

The Essex County Sheriff’s Office got multiple calls about individuals possibly selling drugs in Newark, NJ. Members of the Essex County Narcotics Bureau dispatched officers to the area.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly observed the two suspects lingering.

The officers reportedly saw a Mazda Millennium pull up. The suspects, a 37-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, then allegedly started to speak with the driver.

At some point, the suspects stepped away from the vehicle and walked toward a vacant home located at 88 Brookdale Avenue. According to law enforcement, the suspects retrieved cocaine out of a plastic bag and then exited the house.

The suspects approached the vehicle and allegedly gave the driver a small amount of cocaine in exchange for an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police followed the vehicle for a short distance after it drove away. Police stopped the Mazda and questioned the driver, who reportedly turned over a bag of crack cocaine.

Police returned to the abandoned home and placed the two suspects under arrest.

During a subsequent search of the vacant house, detectives allegedly found a plastic bag containing 34 vials of crack cocaine. Additionally, police allegedly found a loaded .40-caliber Taurus Millennium semi-automatic handgun.

The two suspects who are accused of dealing drugs were charged with distribution of cocaine and unlawful possession of a weapon.

If the suspects are convicted on the cocaine distribution charges, they face severe penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, distribution of 5 ounces or more of cocaine is a first degree crime. A conviction for first degree cocaine distribution could result in a sentence of 10-20 years in NJ State Prison.

Both suspects were transported to the Essex County Jail in Newark NJ, where they were each held on separate $100,000 bail amounts.

Meanwhile, the man who allegedly bought the cocaine was issued a summons for cocaine possession. He was later released with a pending court date in Newark Municipal Court.

The Bloomfield Police Department got a call about the robbery and immediately sent police officers to the area. When police showed up at the scene and began to investigate, they came across the two suspects.

The victim is a 27-year-old man who lives in Bloomfield, NJ. He told police officers that the suspects walked up to him, threatened him with a knife, and stole $200.

The victim was able to identify the two suspects as the men who committed the robbery.

Both suspects were subsequently charged with robbery and theft.

If the suspects are ultimately convicted of armed robbery, they would be subject to significant penalties. According to authorities, the 33-year-old victim was shot and killed near the intersection of Clinton Place and Randolph Street. The site of the shooting is in the area of University High School of the Humanities.

The victim was unresponsive when police found him lying in the intersection.

After the shooting, the victim was rushed to nearby University Hospital. Tragically, doctors were not able to save him; he was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the hospital.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Task Force and the Newark Police Department are actively investigating the killing. Shortly after the shooting, law enforcement could be seen collecting evidence in the area.

At this time, investigators have not identified any suspects in the shooting.

If police are eventually able to identify and apprehend a suspect, it is likely that significant criminal charges for homicide would follow. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, murder is classified as a first degree felony.
