A Newark, New Jersey man has been charged with aggravated assault after he allegedly used a gun to shoot someone outside a local residence.
The suspect is a 33-year-old resident of Newark in Essex County, NJ. According to authorities, the suspect got into a heated argument outside a home located near Dewey Street and Hobson Street in Newark. The argument ended when the suspect allegedly used a handgun to shoot the victim.
After the violent incident, the suspect reportedly ran off and fled the scene on foot.
The victim, a 30-year-old Newark man, drove himself to Beth Israel Hospital so that he could be treated for a gunshot wound.
Detectives with the Newark Police Department investigated the shooting and arrested the suspect.
The suspect now faces aggravated assault charges and criminal weapons charges.
