Police in Newark New Jersey arrested a local man who reportedly burglarized a church in the South Ward.
The suspect is a 46-year-old resident of Newark, NJ. According to authorities, the suspect broke into the New Dawn Church and committed a theft offense.
The suspect reportedly burglarized the Newark church, which is located on Peshine Avenue, just before 9:30 p.m. Two people happened to be at the church at the time of the alleged break-in and held the suspect until Newark police officers could get to the scene.
When Newark NJ cops arrived at the church, they reportedly encountered the suspect and the two people who were detaining him. Police officers searched the suspect and reportedly found him in possession of a knife and various items stolen from the church.
Police arrested the suspect and charged him with several crimes, including burglary, theft of movable property, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
