Newark NJ police recently arrested a man who allegedly committed arson at a local restaurant.
The suspect is a 39-year-old resident of Newark, NJ. According to authorities, the suspect intentionally started a blaze at Tasty’s Fish & Seafood Grill on North Sixth Street in Newark, New Jersey.
Newark police received a 911 call about a fire at the restaurant a short time after 9:00 p.m. Newark firefighters and police officers went to the scene, where they saw the building on fire.
Law enforcement investigated the blaze and reportedly came across a container with flammable liquid. The container had allegedly been placed in a stove.
Police officers arrested the suspect at the scene. He was subsequently charged with three counts of aggravated arson and three counts of criminal mischief for allegedly destroying property.
Newark police detectives and members of the Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit are currently investigating the fire, so additional criminal charges could be filed in the case.
