Newark law enforcement recently captured a local woman who allegedly stabbed a man at an apartment in the East Ward.
The violent altercation happened around 10:00 p.m. The Newark Police Department got a 911 call about a disturbance at the residence and sent cops to the area. When Newark police officers arrived at the apartment building, they found the victim and saw that he was seriously injured.
The victim, a 49-year-old Newark NJ man, was transported to nearby University Hospital. Doctors at the medical facility treated the victim for a knife wound. Fortunately, he was expected to survive his injuries.
Newark detectives conducted an investigation and identified the suspect in the stabbing at a 47-year-old woman from Newark, New Jersey. She was captured a few days later and taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility.
The suspect has been charged with several crimes, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Newark NJ detectives are still investigating the stabbing, so additional charges could be forthcoming. Additionally, it is possible that the altercation could be classified as a domestic violence incident, depending on the nature of the relationship between the suspect and the victim.
