Newark NJ Aggravated Assault SuspectNewark NJ police are looking for a suspect in the recent stabbing of a man on a street located in the city’s East Ward.

The violent stabbing incident occurred in the area of Astor Street and Broad Street around 12:30 p.m. The Newark Police Department got a 911 call about a fight and sent cops to the scene. When Newark police officers arrived in the area, they found the victim lying on the pavement and suffering from serious injuries.

The victim, a 33-year-old Newark NJ resident, was subsequently transported to nearby University Hospital. Doctors at the Newark medical facility treated the victim for his stab wounds and later listed him in stable condition.

Newark NJ detectives talked to the victim and soon identified the suspect as a 53-year-old Newark man. Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose later indicated that law enforcement is actively investigating the crime and is trying to find the suspect. If and when the suspect is located, it is likely that he will face very serious criminal charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
