Nutley NJ police recently arrested a local man accused of assaulting a food delivery driver with a sandwich.
According to authorities, the suspect ordered food from a Nutley NJ restaurant. The delivery driver then took the food order to the suspect’s house, which is located on Nutley Avenue in Nutley, New Jersey.
The driver gave the suspect the sandwich and asked for payment of $11.75. The suspect reportedly handed the delivery guy a total of $12 in bills and change and told him to toss the change. The driver responded by throwing the extra quarter onto the driveway and then turned around and walked toward his car.
The suspect allegedly threw the sandwich at the victim, striking him in the back of the head. The suspect then reportedly grabbed the sandwich from the ground and smeared it across the delivery vehicle windshield.
The victim dialed 911 and notified the Nutley Police Department, which dispatched cops to the scene to arrest the suspect.
The suspect is a 22-year-old Nutley NJ man. He faces charges for simple assault and criminal mischief.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect secured his release from police custody on his own recognizance.
