Belleville New Jersey police recently apprehended a man who allegedly used a handgun to shoot his adult son.
The suspect, a 56-year-old resident of Belleville NJ, is accused of shooting his 23-year-old son at a residence on Mallone Avenue in Belleville.
Immediately following the shooting incident, the victim managed to walk to a nearby residence and get help. Someone at the house dialed 911 and alerted local law enforcement to the situation. Emergency medical responders went to the scene and found the victim suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for his injuries.
Meanwhile, Belleville NJ cops placed the suspect under arrest. He was later charged with multiple criminal offenses, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Detectives with the Belleville Police Department are still investigating the violent incident, so more charges could potentially be forthcoming.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was ordered held at the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark NJ on a bail amount of $150,000.
