Newark NJ police are investigating a violent shooting on a street that left three people with serious injuries.
The shooting occurred around 8:20 p.m. According to authorities, the three victims were walking near the intersection of 15th Avenue and Bruce Street in Newark when a vehicle drove by. Someone inside the vehicle reportedly brandished a handgun and fired multiple gunshots at the victims.
All three pedestrians sustained gunshot wounds as a result of the shooting. When Newark NJ cops arrived at the scene, they found the victims on the pavement and in a great deal of pain. The injured parties were subsequently transported to University Hospital in Newark, where doctors provided emergency medical treatment. The victims were later listed in stable condition at the Newark hospital.
The Newark Police Department is actively investigating the shooting. Police have not yet been able to identity a suspect in the shooting or determine a motive for the attack.
If authorities can eventually determine who committed the assault, the culprit would likely be charged with multiple crimes, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
