Montclair NJ Aggravated Assault LawyersMontclair NJ police arrested a local man accused of firing a gun at another individual on a township street.

The Montclair Police Department got a call about gunshots being fired at the intersection of Claremont Avenue and Greenwood Avenue in Montclair, New Jersey. The incident occurred just a short time before 11:00 p.m.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt as a result of the shooting.

When police officers showed up at the scene of the reported shooting, they began an investigation and canvassed the area for the culprit. Police eventually located the 25-year-old suspect and placed him under arrest.

The suspect has been charged with a number of crimes, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Montclair police do not yet know what, if anything, prompted the shooting. However, police are operating under the assumption that the shooting was a “targeted attack.”

After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ. He was being held at the jail on a $50,000 bail amount.

Montclair detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in linking the suspect to the shooting. Anyone who has information about the shooting should contact police at 973-744-1234.
