Detectives with an Essex County task force recently conducted a drug raid at a Newark NJ home and allegedly found illegally owned handguns.
The suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Newark, New Jersey. Police received information about illegal drug activity at the suspect’s residence on Melrose Place in Newark, NJ. The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force investigated and got search warrants.
Detectives later executed the search warrants and allegedly found multiple firearms, including a .38-caliber revolver and two semiautomatic pistols. Police officers also allegedly discovered “multiple” rounds of ammunition.
The suspect was placed under arrest and charged with a certain persons offense for being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun.
Additionally, the suspect was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia because Essex County detectives reportedly found him with drug scales used to weigh narcotics for distribution.
