Newark NJ Burglary SuspectNewark New Jersey police recently arrested a local man who allegedly burglarized a house on Thanksgiving Day.

The theft crime occurred at a home on Littleton Avenue in Newark, NJ. The Newark Police Department got a call reporting the break-in around 7:15 p.m. on Thanksgiving night. According to authorities, a resident at the Little Avenue home opened the door to find the suspect standing inside the residence.

The suspect allegedly fled the home and was pursued by the victim, who also dialed 911 while chasing after him.

Newark cops arrived at the scene in short order and also gave pursuit, eventually catching up to and arresting the suspect.

Detectives with the Newark Police Department investigated the break-in and reportedly saw how the suspect gained entry to the home: by entering a window that had been left open.

The suspect, a 31-year-old resident of Newark, faces multiple criminal charges, including burglary, resisting arrest, and simple possession of marijuana. The suspect was charged with the drug crime because police allegedly found him in possession of a small quantity of marijuana.
