Newark NJ law enforcement arrested a local man who allegedly robbed a woman he met over the Internet.
The suspect is a 32-year-old male resident of Newark, NJ. According to Newark authorities, the suspect met the victim on the Internet through a dating service.
The suspect eventually arranged to meet the victim for a date. At some point during their encounter, the suspect allegedly robbed the victim and stole money and persona possessions. He then reportedly fled the victim’s apartment, which is located in Newark’s South Ward.
Detectives with both the Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office conducted a joint investigation into the theft incident and managed to identify the robbery suspect. Police officers later located the suspect in Newark New Jersey and placed him under arrest.
The suspect faces criminal charges for robbery. If the suspect is convicted on the theft crime charges, he could be sentenced to several years in prison.
