Newark Aggravated Assault LawyersNewark New Jersey detectives are investigating recent shootings that caused two people to die and resulting in several people sustained serious injuries.

The first fatal shooting occurred a short time after 8:00 p.m. on the 1100 block of South Orange Avenue in Newark, NJ. According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s, someone used a handgun to fire gunshots at three people who happened to be walking on the side of the street.

The three victims were transported to a local hospital, where doctors pronounced one victim dead.

The second shooting happened just after 1:30 a.m. on North 9th Street, only a few blocks away from the first shooting. The Newark Police Department got a call about gunshots fired in the area and sent police officers to the scene.

When Newark cops got to the site of the shooting, they found a female victim suffering from severe injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

That same night, Newark NJ police went to the 300 block of 6th Avenue to investigate another shooting incident. This shooting reportedly resulted in two people sustaining serious gunshot wounds.

The Newark Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are conducting a joint investigation into the shootings and looking for suspects. If police can eventually identify and capture any suspects, the culprits would likely face criminal charges for first degree murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses.
