Newark Criminal Defense AttorneysNewark New Jersey police are investigating a shooting that killed one teenager and seriously injured another teenager.

The violent incident happened around 3:00 p.m. on the 400 block of Hawthorne Avenue in the South Ward of Newark, NJ. The Newark Police Department got a call about gunshots being fired and sent police officers to the area.

Two Newark NJ teens sustained gunshot wounds in the shooting. One victim, a 16-year-old boy, was pronounced dead a half-hour after being shot. The other victim, a 17-year-old boy, was injured and required medical treatment at University Hospital in Newark, New Jersey. Doctors later listed the minor victim in stable condition.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Newark Police Department are conducting a joint investigation into the fatal shooting and trying to determine the identity of the individual responsible for the homicide.
