Police officers recently arrested a Belleville NJ man who allegedly caused the death of a Verona NJ woman in a fatal car accident.
The fatal crash happened at 7:45 a.m. on March 3, 2017. According to authorities, the 25-year-old suspect was driving a white 2006 Mitsubishi on Lakeside Avenue in Belleville when he lost control of the car and struck the 34-year-old victim at a bus stop.
The suspect also reportedly hit the victim’s brother. The female victim died as a result of her injuries, while the male victim needed to be hospitalized but was later listed in stable condition.
The suspect faces very serious criminal charges for death by auto, a first degree felony that could lead to a sentence of 10-20 years in New Jersey State Prison.
Moreover, the suspect has been cited for numerous traffic violations, including Driving While Under the Influence (DUI), drunk driving near a school, careless driving, reckless driving, and failure to maintain lane.
Moreover, the suspect was charged with assault by auto, illegal possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
