A Newark New Jersey man accused of fatally shooting someone on a city street in December has been captured by law enforcement.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the suspect committed the murder during the early morning hours of December 30, 2016. The Newark Police Department got a call about a man who was passed out on the 300 block of South 11th Street in Newark, NJ. However, when Newark NJ officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, a 27-year-old resident of Sunrise, Florida, was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Newark Police Department conducted an investigation into the killing and determined that the victim was shot and killed during a robbery.
Investigators soon identified the suspect as a 38-year-old Newark man. Now the suspect is in police custody, having been apprehended by Newark NJ cops and members of the FBI Fugitive Task Force.
The suspect faces numerous criminal charges, including felony murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Essex County Jail in Newark, NJ. He was being held at the jail on an undisclosed bail amount.
