Newark NJ Murder ChargesA Montclair New Jersey man faces first degree murder charges for allegedly shooting an Irvington NJ man on a street in Newark, NJ.

The suspect, a 22-year-old resident of Montclair, allegedly used a handgun to shoot the 22-year-old victim. According to law enforcement, the shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Clifton Avenue.

The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Newark Police Department conducted a joint investigation and captured the suspect shortly after the fatal shooting incident. It has not yet been revealed what the suspect’s motive might have been for the shooting.

The suspect has been charged with multiple crimes, including first degree murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

According to Essex County prosecutors, another fatal shooting occurred earlier that same night in Newark. A 19-year-old Irvington man was killed while he walked along North Munn Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. The suspect in that shooting has not yet been arrested.

The suspect who was placed under arrest for the other shooting incident is being held at the Essex County Jail on a bail amount of $750,000.
