Police in Orange New Jersey are looking into a double homicide at a local house.
The tragic incident occurred at a residence on the 200 block of Cleveland Street in Orange, NJ. According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, a suspect walked toward the front porch of the house and used a gun to open fire on multiple victims.
Four individuals suffered serious injuries in the shooting. Two of the victims later died due to shooting-related injuries.
One victim who tragically died was a 21-month-old boy. The other person killed in the attack was a 21-year-old Orange New Jersey man believed to be the boy’s uncle.
The two homicide victims were on the front porch when the suspect allegedly opened fire. They were taken to East Orange General Hospital, but the young child died on the way to the hospital. The older homicide victim made it to the East Orange NJ hospital, but he was later pronounced dead.
The other two shooting victims were the young boy’s father and a 15-year-old juvenile. Both of the shooting victims got medical treatment for their shooting-related injuries and were later listed in stable condition.
The shooter reportedly fled the scene after the shooting. The Orange Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are currently investigating the killings. Police are still trying to identify and locate the suspect.
Orange NJ residents who live near the home where the shooting occurred talked to the media and said that there have been several shootings in the neighborhood in the past few months.
Orange NJ Mayor Dwayne D. Warren recently issued a statement and asked local residents to get in touch with local law enforcement if they see anything that is “not right in the neighborhood.”
