A man who allegedly murdered his girlfriend at a home located in Ewing New Jersey was tracked down by law enforcement and placed under arrest at a Belleville motel.
The suspect has been accused of strangling the victim, his girlfriend, during a heated verbal altercation. The homicide went down at the girlfriend’s residence, which is located on Ewingville Road in Ewing, NJ. During the argument, the suspect allegedly used a glass beer bottle to strike the victim’s head. He then reportedly used a cell phone charging cord to strangle her to death.
After allegedly committing the murder, the suspect reportedly tried to hide the body in a pile of clothes and blankets in the bedroom.
Around 3:00 a.m., the Ewing Police Department received a call from a concerned neighbor. Ewing NJ cops were dispatched to the home to conduct a welfare check and found the victim’s body.
The Ewing Police Department, the Belleville Police Department, the New Jersey State Police, and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office investigated the brutal killing and eventually located the suspect’s vehicle, a Ford Explorer, at a Belleville NJ motel. Police officers then arrested the suspect in Belleville, New Jersey.
The suspect, a 50-year-old man, now faces criminal charges for first degree murder and for several weapons offenses, including possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
If the suspect is convicted of murder, he would be subject to significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, murder is a first degree crime that carries a potential punishment of life imprisonment.
