Newark NJ Triple Murder SuspectNewark NJ police apprehended a man who allegedly committed three murders over a single weekend.

According to Newark police, the 27-year-old suspect shot and killed two Newark residents, a 28-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman. The victims are believed to have been a couple living together in a residence located on Clinton Place, while the suspect was an ex-boyfriend of the female victim.

When Newark police officers arrived at the location of the shooting, they discovered three young children inside the residence.

The suspect, who resides in East Orange, has also been accused of murdering a 21-year-old woman at a house located on Stratford Place in Newark, New Jersey. When police officers got to the residence, they found the victim’s body on the side of a bathtub. She had reportedly been strangled to death.

Newark NJ police also police a five-month-old baby in a closet at the house.

Law enforcement searched for the suspect and eventually captured him. He faces criminal charges for three counts of murder and one count of child endangerment.

If the suspect is ultimately convicted of murder, he faces a potential penalty of life imprisonment. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, murder is the most serious criminal offense in the NJ Criminal Code. A conviction on first degree murder charges is punishable by a minimum sentence of 30 years in New Jersey State Prison.
