Newark NJ Theft ChargesPolice officers arrested a man accused of stealing a cell phone from a woman at the Newark PATH station.

The suspect is a 26-year-old man from Newark, New Jersey. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect grabbed a cell phone from a woman at the PATH station and then tried to make a run for it.

The victim, a 31-year-old female resident of Union NJ, notified Port Authority cops at the scene.

Port Authority police soon located the suspect and chased him across railroad tracks and through nearby parking lots. Police officers eventually caught up to the suspect and placed him under arrest.

After being arrested, the suspect was taken to East Orange General Hospital for a medical evaluation because he may have suffered injuries while being apprehended. According to authorities, the suspect tried to bite the arresting Port Authority officers.

The suspect has been charged with multiple crimes, including robbery, theft of service, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, and interference with transportation.
