Newark Aggravated Assault SuspectEssex County Sheriff’s Office detectives tracked down a Newark New Jersey woman who allegedly used a hammer to assault a man at a gas station in Virginia.

The suspect is a 26-year-old resident of Newark, NJ. According to authorities, she got into a verbal altercation with the victim at a Virginia gas station.

The verbal argument allegedly turned physical, with the suspect grabbing a hammer and smashing the victim’s Porsche. Additionally, the suspect allegedly attempted to hit the victim with the hammer.

During the frightening incident, the suspect reportedly shouted racial slurs at the victim and angrily referred to him as “rich” and “white.”

Afterwards, the suspect allegedly got into her motor vehicle and drove away.

Authorities later identified the suspect and located her at her home on Fairmount Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. She was arrested without incident.

The suspect was remanded to the Essex County Jail in Newark. She is expected to be extradited to Caroline County, Virginia at some point so that she can face aggravated assault charges and vandalism charges. Prosecutors also indicated that the suspect might be charged with a hate crime.
